Module 1: Introduction to Islamic Sciences

  • Overview: This introductory module lays the groundwork for the entire program, providing an understanding of the main branches of Islamic knowledge. It will offer insight into the significance of each discipline and their interconnections within the broader framework of Islam.
  • Topics Covered:
    • Overview of Islamic Sciences
    • The relationship between knowledge, faith, and practice
    • The methodology of Islamic scholarship
    • How to approach Islamic studies systematically

Module 2: Fundamentals of Aqeedah (Islamic Beliefs)

  • Duration: 8 Weeks
  • Overview: This module covers the core beliefs that define a Muslim’s faith. Students will explore the foundational principles of Islamic theology, including the belief in Allah, His attributes, the Prophets, and the Afterlife.
  • Topics Covered:
    • Belief in Allah (Tawhid)
    • Belief in the Angels, Divine Books, and Prophets
    • The Day of Judgment and the Afterlife
    • The role of faith in the life of a Muslim

Module 3: Fundamentals of Islamic Law (Fiqh)

  • Duration: 8 Weeks
  • Overview: This module introduces students to the fundamentals of Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh). The focus will be on the sources of Islamic law and how it governs daily life, including rituals, personal conduct, and societal interactions.
  • Topics Covered:
    • The sources of Islamic law (Qur’an, Hadith, Ijma’, Qiyas)
    • The main schools of thought in Islamic jurisprudence
    • Fiqh and its application to personal and communal life
    • Islamic rulings on worship, transactions, and ethics

Module 4: Fundamentals of Hadith

  • Duration: 8 Weeks
  • Overview: This module introduces students to the science of Hadith—the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Students will learn about the importance of Hadith in understanding the Qur’an and applying Islamic law.
  • Topics Covered:
    • Definition and significance of Hadith
    • The classification of Hadith (Sahih, Da’if, Hasan etc.)
    • The science of Hadith transmission
    • The role of Hadith in Islamic law and practice

Module 5: Fundamentals of the Qur’an

  • Duration: 8 Weeks
  • Overview: This module focuses on the Qur’an as the central source of Islamic knowledge. Students will learn the sciences of the Qur’an, including its compilation, revelation, and key concepts in its interpretation.
  • Topics Covered:
    • The history of the Qur’an’s revelation and compilation
    • The different types of revelation (Makki and Madani)
    • Tafsir (Qur’anic exegesis) and its principles

End of Year Examinations
